Hospital staff go the extra mile!
07 Oct ArchivePreviously the Chelsea Children’s Hospital Charity, we re-launched as The Children’s Surgery Foundation in 2019 to reflect the national scope of our work today. The story below is from our days as the Chelsea Children’s Hospital Charity.
We’re delighted that three wonderful runners will be pounding the streets to raise money for us in the Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon on Sunday 9th October 2016.
Dr James Ross works in children’s A&E and HDU at Chelsea Children’s Hospital. “I only took up running a year or so ago to keep the weight off after losing 30kg. Fitting in training is tricky but I have good intentions!"
Mark O’Donaghue plays a vital part of life at Chelsea Children’s Hospital by overseeing all catering and housekeeping for the children. Mark organised a fun football match with friends and family to raise funds and has been training hard for the race. “I'm now up to six miles. It's a bit behind where I’d like to be but I’m getting there…”
Andy Miles is the husband of Anna, Ward Manager on Children’s HDU. Andy has been putting in the hours – he even took his running gear on holiday. “Over the twelve years Anna has worked at Chelsea I've met many of her colleagues and they are awesome. I hope that by raising some money for the charity I can make a difference to a family’s life.”
Thanks for your efforts and your commitment to the charity guys! The race is going to be a brilliant day out for all the family so why not come along to cheer on our runners!
