Keeping kids comfy in surgery

Previously the Chelsea Children’s Hospital Charity, we re-launched as The Children’s Surgery Foundation in 2019 to reflect the national scope of our work today. The story below is from our days as the Chelsea Children’s Hospital Charity.

State-of-the-art surgical pads are now available in each of the children's theatres at Chelsea Children's Hospital, thanks to the money raised from our summer party in Courtfield Gardens.

Josephine Estilo, Manager of Paedriatric Theatres, says:

"These gel pads keep babies and children warm and comfortable during surgery and prevent the need for staff to apply heavy-duty adhesive monitors to their fragile and delicate skin, which is especially important for very young babies. It's wonderful that we no longer have to use the older-style adhesive pads.”
