Chair beds for parents
24 Oct ArchivePreviously the Chelsea Children’s Hospital Charity, we re-launched as The Children’s Surgery Foundation in 2019 to reflect the national scope of our work today. The story below is from our days as the Chelsea Children’s Hospital Charity.
We've recently bought 14 convertible chair beds for Starlight children's ward at West Middlesex Hospital. Tracy Armstrong, Modern Matron, Paediatrics and SCBU at West Middlesex, says:
“The chair beds can easily be transformed from a comfy armchair into a pull-out bed, allowing parents to sleep next to their child at night. They take up less room than the bulky folding beds we had previously, allowing medical staff easier access to their young patients on Starlight ward. What’s more, the surface is fully washable, assisting with infection control. They have been a huge success with the parents. We’re really pleased with them.”
